On the women's side, Dayton's 68-58 win at Xavier last night means GW would be the #2 seed in the A-10 Tournament if it started today. With the Colonials and the Owls now the only teams with two losses in conference play, Temple would get the top spot by way of the head-to-head tiebreaker. Coach Joe McKeown's squad needs to beat Fordham on Saturday and hope the Owls fall at home to Massachusetts in order to secure the top seed in the conference tournament.
On the men's side, there are now four teams with eight losses in A-10 play: GW, Rhode Island, Fordham, and Dayton (though Rhode Island is 6-8, and the other three are 5-8). If the A-10 Tournament started today, the Colonials would be the #12 seed by way of the three-team tiebreaker, which is a team's record against the other two squads in question (GW is 1-1 against Dayton and Fordham). Amazingly, the Flyers would be left out of the conference tournament if it started today. It is also important to note that Charlotte now has seven losses in A-10 play; the Colonials visit the 49ers next week in a game that could have major conference tournament implications.
Also in The Hatchet, Ms. Shapes writes on the uncertainty surrounding Miles Beatty.
