On the road with the Colonials: Day one

Greetings from sunny San Jose, California. After just under six hours of flight time, GW's players, coaches, family members, administrative staffers, and members of the Colonial Brass and cheer team touched down on the Pacific coast a few minutes before four p.m. local time.

The traveling pack departed the Smith Center this morning for an early afternoon charter flight out of Dulles Airport (seen in the above picture). The players and coaches were in good spirits, clearly looking forward to another visit to the west coast.

Taking it back to the days when airlines used to feed passengers with actual meals, we were treated to a lunch consisting of chicken and pasta (as shown in the picture to the left).

Ironically, we were informed by Delta crew members that the plane's next destination is College Station, Texas, where it will pick up the Texas A&M women's team. The Aggies are coached by Gary Blair, a longtime friend to GW coach Joe McKeown.

Tonight will consist of a team dinner and a trip to the mall to try and get everyone's internal clocks on Pacific Time. Tomorrow is the squad's first day of practice in California. Afterwards, everyone will ship out of San Jose and into the hotel in Santa Clara, where the team will be located for the rest of the trip.

Time for dinner. Please check back tomorrow for more updates.
